Электрический вариант автомобиля, который не так давно был в ближайших планах компании BYD, вполне возможно вовсе не поступит в серийное производство, по крайне мере теперь так говорят в компании. Ранее планировалось, что электрический BYD поступит в продажу в середине 2010 года.
Также говорится о том, что может быть выпущено лишь 100 единиц электрокаров, которые будут использоваться в качестве такси, в одном из китайских городов. В зависимости от того какой отзыв получат данные варианты и будет принято окончательное решение о судьбе BYD EV.
Пока неясно, это решение принято самостоятельно китайской компанией или навеяно стратегическим партнером, в лице Daimler, с которым у BYD был в начале месяца подписан договор о сотрудничестве, в рамках которого и планируется разработка электрокара.
Текущее решение может также затронуть планы BYD запустить электрокар BYD е6 в Европе в начале 2011 года, но не касается других планов, например, выпуск гибридов.
Тем временем, BYD посчитал свои доходы, которые составили более 214 миллионов долларов, что почти вдвое превосходит собственный прогноз компании. К концу 2009 года было продано более 800 000 автомобилей этой марки.
