По мнению пресс-секретаря ассоциации, автомобиль смог занять первое место благодаря налоговым льготам и скидкам, которые предоставляет государство всем покупателям гибридных автомобилей. В настоящее время очередь на Prius в Японии составляет шесть месяцев.
Toyota Prius выпускается с 1997 года, и с того момента было реализовано 2,3 миллиона машин более чем в 70 странах. В России официальные продажи «гибрида» стартовали только в конце 2009 года с появлением третьего поколения. В прошлом году в нашей стране было приобретено всего 30 «Приусов».
